Early years in Saskatchewan remain inspirational.  Remarkable colors.  Spaces, unlimited.

Saskatchewan.  Having grown up in this province was a wonderful beginning.  It is truly an inspirational landscape.  One major consideration for a garden enthusiast is the severity of winter.  At -45 c, most of the RHS garden plants are not able to survive.  So in search of the exotic, Douglas spent the past three decades traveling the globe and experiencing milder climates.  This has been a positive experience.  But when asked where is home, it brings him back to Saskatchewan.

Early work incorporated rail ties and telephone poles, recycled as they were removed from the prairie landscape. Now, of course, these materials are not promoted owing to environmental concerns.
