The rains have finally hit this spring and they come in torrential waves. It is hard on the blossoms. Regardless, the colour of these tulips and the leaves of Iris pallida 'Variegata', compliment and deceive brilliantly. There is a white-leafed variety of this iris but they say that it is more prone to disease so I have gone with the yellow. Until I moved here, yellow was my least favourite colour but now against the stone, it is my favourite. Matching plant material colours to the architecture is a must. I was the brunt of jokes when I brought samples of paint and wallpaper to the garden centre, but they are used to my strange habits now. |
