Finally, the chairs are gone. The life in the garden is left to the Blue Tits and Sparrows who eat from the feeder regularly. Black birds feast on the ornamental apples one by one. The odd mouse scurries past. All are resting and storing energy for the season to come.

The first day of December brought with it an abundance of rain at 0 celsius. The result is a dangerous wonderland that is bringing a bough down a minute in the beech forest behind our house. Gaura lindheimeri is one of my favourite tender, perennials. I use it near the grasses so that they move as one in the breezes. I have never seen it preserved in ice like this, but it is very inspirational. The rose is the last of the season and complements the ornamental apples behind. What will tomorrow bring?
