Hiding hydrants, water works, cable boxes and other hardware is an age old problem. Using Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' combined with crushed stone works for this purpose. Miscanthus is quick growing, covers extensively, and can be cut or trampled easily should work or an emergency arise. Cutting them in October also leaves a clean look in the snow.
